Opportunity Partners is seeking a strategic, inspirational and entrepreneurial executive to lead the organization’s philanthropic, marketing, and communication functions. The incumbent will play a critical role in fulfilling the organization’s mission by establishing and strengthening external relations and maximizing multiple revenue streams including donations, major gifts, estate gifts, endowments, grants, sponsorships, events, and corporate and foundation support.

Headquartered in Minnetonka, Opportunity Partners is an award-winning $34 million nonprofit that has been providing residential, educational and employment services to over 1,500 adults with developmental disabilities for more than 65 years.

Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, the incumbent will serve as a key leadership team member in making strategic decisions affecting Opportunity Partners. The incumbent will manage a team that includes Directors of Marketing and Communication as well as individuals focusing on donor relationships and growth.

This exciting opportunity is well suited for seasoned philanthropy leaders with a proven track record in advancement as well as sales and marketing executives who are looking to apply their exceptional skill set to a meaningful mission while enjoying professional challenge and growth.

Primary Responsibilities
• In partnership with the OP’s Board of Directors, Leadership team, and Advancement staff, lead the development and execution of an advancement strategy that engages and inspires, and is consistent with established and emerging community and donor interests and priorities.
• Develop a portfolio of prospective donors, partners, benefactors, and advocates through prospecting, networking and outreach. Forge new relationships to build Opportunity Partners’ visibility and maximize philanthropic support.
• Share vision and strategic insights to provide direction for the design and execution of marketing plans that promote OP’s fundraising efforts, programs and services.
• Oversee the development of strategic media and communication initiatives that enhance the organization’s visibility and reputation with key constituencies.
• Strengthen relationships with existing donors to maximize retention and future giving.
• Support the Board of Directors in their fundraising and engagement. Alongside the Advancement Committee Chair, lead the Advancement Committee to ensure Opportunity Partners’ fiscal health through philanthropy.
• Ensure the application of fundraising ethics, standards, regulations, and best practices.
• Lead the establishment of a culture of philanthropy.
• Provide inspirational leadership to the development team; recruit, retain, and grow talented staff; set challenging goals and encourage and assist others in the achievement of their goals; lead by example. Assure that departmental functions operate synergistically in furthering the mission.
• Oversee the selection and utilization of donor management automated systems and tools.
• Help develop a sustainable volunteer program that supports the whole organization.

Required Attributes and Skills
• A strong commitment to Opportunity Partners’ mission of advancing the quality of life for people with disabilities.
• A passion for building strategic partnerships and expanding philanthropic support.
• A thought leader able to identify opportunities and challenges related to advancement in a large social service organization as well as major funding changes or trends.
• Bachelor degree in related field required. Master’s degree preferred.
• Seasoned professional with progressively responsible experience in an Advancement or Sales role.
• Established track record prospecting major new donors, clients or customers.
• Proven performance setting and achieving challenging quantitative goals.
• Entrepreneurial style and a bias for action.
• Ability and willingness to work effectively and collaboratively across the organization and with the Board of Directors.
• Supportive, inclusive leadership style, “roll up your sleeves” orientation.
• Exceptional oral and written skills and comfort prospecting high-level donors as well as advocating and fundraising on behalf of Opportunity Partners. Solid public speaking skills.
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Impeccable ethics and integrity.
