Position Summary
The Marketing and Communications Specialist executes on the strategic marketing and communications plan as a member of the Advancement Team, which is responsible for driving revenue for the organization. This Aeon ambassador will support activities that promote, enhance, and protect Aeon’s brand and drive financial resources, with the goal of advancing our position with relevant constituents as well as driving broader awareness and support for our mission. The Marketing and Communications Specialist reports to the Marketing and Communications Manager.
Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Digital Communications: Optimize Aeon’s visibility on all channels. Use analytics to develop and refine strategies for social media, email and Aeon’s website that engage and grow Aeon’s audiences. Lead content development. Oversee Aeon’s email housefile building activities.
Collateral Development: Act as project manager for collateral needed for the organization’s awareness-building, fundraising, staff recruitment, property-based and housing development initiatives. Serve as writer and editor for Aeon publications and appeals. Oversee photographers, internal and external designers, printers and mailing process.
Awareness and Reputation Building: Own the process for award applications. Act as lead speechwriter for internal and external events. Ensure Aeon media coverage is promoted appropriately. Lead initiatives to seek positive online reviews from all stakeholder groups to strengthen Aeon’s reputation.

Resident Communications: Play a key role in the development and execution of a resident communications plan, developing new collateral as needed. Collaborate with Site Managers and Resident Connections staff to meet new residents who want to share their stories with Aeon supporters. Ensure that they feel comfortable and empowered when featured in letters, blogs, videos, etc. Respond to resident concerns and encourage residents to share their positive experiences with Aeon online.
General: Participate as an active member of the Advancement Team, including supporting other activities as needed. Proficient use of Microsoft Office products, particularly Word and Excel.
Skills & Qualifications
• At least 3-5 years of previous experience in communications/marketing is preferred
• Excellent writing and editing skills
• Previous project management experience strongly preferred
• Ability to understand marketing and communications as it relates to Aeon’s brand-building and fundraising efforts
• Proficiency in Adobe InDesign and Photoshop for print and digital design
• Proficiency in WordPress and basic understanding of HTML preferred
• Understanding of changing technologies, and ability to successfully utilize digital and other channels in integrated marketing, communication, and fundraising strategies
• Results-driven style, personal accountability, excellent time management skills, and the ability to develop strategies to meet both department-specific and organization-wide needs
• Ability to work with individuals from diverse backgrounds, demonstrating sensitivity to the needs and experiences of a diverse staff and constituent base
