Job Title: Fundraising and Event Associate
Classification: Full Time, Exempt
Schedule: Weekdays during business hours, with occasional weekends/evenings
Reports To: Executive Director

Position Scope and Purpose
As it begins its 25th year, Textile Center is seeking a personable, energetic, self-motivated Fundraising and Event Associate to work with a talented staff and board during a time of exciting program growth and artistic advancement.

Working with the Executive Director, staff, and volunteers, the Fundraising and Event Associate is responsible for the coordination and support of the Textile Center’s fundraising initiatives and events. This role requires the orchestration of annual fundraising appeals and fundraising events, solicitation of monetary and in-kind sponsorships, as well as coordinating the organization’s grants calendar and donor acknowledgments.

This position will also coordinate the planning and execution of Textile Center’s annual World’s Largest Textile Garage Sale in April, as well its smaller Garage Sale Pop Up in October – two events that raise significant funds in support of Textile Center programs.

Specific Duties

• Assist the Executive Director and Board leaders with the annual fundraising appeals.
• Work to cultivate and grow Textile Center’s Leadership Circle (donors $500+) through special activities and events.
• In partnership with the Executive Director, assist with planning budget goals for annual fund/individual giving.
• Work with Communications Associate to develop materials for Annual Fund campaigns.
• Work with Executive Director and team on prompt donor acknowledgments.
• Assist with management of member and donor database (Salesforce).


• Coordinate the grants calendar related to submissions, site visits, and reports.
• Work with contract grants writer, and maintain files for financial and program materials required by funders.

Planned Giving

• Coordinate details of Textile Center’s planned giving program, The Athena Society.

Sponsorships & In-Kind Donations

• Plan strategy and solicit sponsorships and in-kind donations for Textile Center programs as needed, such as major fundraising events, Textile Garage Sales, exhibitions, etc.


• Work with Communication Associate to develop and execute timely and effective communications and promotion for fundraising efforts.
• Coordinate planning execution of Textile Garage Sale (April) and Garage Sale Pop Up (October) events, including: serving as onsite lead/point person; assisting with volunteer recruitment, scheduling, sign up, and communication; and updating and restocking materials ranging from signs, forms, and supplies.
• Track and update weekly task lists in the months leading up to the events
• Contact relevant local businesses and solicit for donations (monetary and in-kind)


• Maintain accurate and timely donor records.
• Run reports and analyze data for current and past giving.
• Perform other duties as required.
• Flexibility to work occasional evenings and weekends for events

This position reports to the Executive Director and works with all other members of Textile Center staff. The position interacts with donors, program officers, members, volunteers, sponsors, artists, and participants in Textile Center programs.

• Bachelor’s degree in an related field of study.
• 2 to 4 years’ experience in non-profit fundraising and event execution.
• Arts non-profit experience preferred.
• Proficient using a donor database/CRM, Salesforce preferred.
• Experience working with budgets.
• Knowledge/interest in fiber art and/or the arts in general is a plus.
• Outstanding oral and written communication skills.
• Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to interact with donors, artists, and members.
• Comfortable making cold calls.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office applications and Outlook/Office365.
• Ability to set and balance priorities and complete tasks accurately, on time and in an efficient manner.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Flexibility, adaptability.
• Ability to sit and stay seated using computer for extended periods of time
• Ability to lift, bend, stretch, use stairs, and stand for long periods of time.
