Director of Major and Leadership Giving

One World Surgery

| Minneapolis, MN | March 25, 2019

About the Position:
One World Surgery (OWS) is a fast growing and transformative organization committed to safe, timely, and accessible surgical care globally. In this new role, the Director of Major and Leadership Giving will be part of the senior leadership team and report directly to the CEO, working in collaboration with the Director of Development and a passionate development team of five staff.

At this exciting time of organizational expansion, the Director of Major and Leadership Giving has the opportunity to develop and implement a comprehensive individual giving program for the medical mission volunteers that will unlock tremendous potential for OWS. This position will create the most effective structure around annual and major giving and set strategies that will successfully leverage events to cultivate major gift donors and prospects. With a robust baseline of current donors who give $2,500 or more, the responsibilities of the Director of Major and Leadership Giving will pay particular attention to major gift opportunities, building their own major gift portfolio. The Director of Major and Leadership Giving will be a “thought partner” around the CEO’s major gift prospects and activity. This dynamic position will have access to data support from a database coordinator who supports the development team.

As an organization with a surgery center in Honduras and a second being built in the Dominican Republic, national and international travel is an integral and exciting aspect of this development position. This candidate may reside in Chicago or the Minneapolis/St. Paul area.

Candidate Profile:
The successful candidate will have a passion for One World Surgery’s mission, love to build meaningful donor relationships, enjoy traveling, use their creativity to uncover major gift opportunities, and carry the confidence and leadership qualities that come with individual and major gift experience. They will enjoy working independently, yet they will make it a priority to build strong working relationships as a team-player across many channels, using technology to bridge the distance that is inherent in advancing a global mission.
Ideally, development professionals interested in this position will have enough major gift and individual giving fundraising experience to design and run their own program. They will collaborate on event strategy with the development team and represent OWS at a large portion of events.
