Director of Development

Anselm House

The Director of Development (DD) will refine and execute Anselm House’s annual and long-range fundraising plans, including an upcoming capital campaign to purchase/build a new headquarters for the ministry on the Minneapolis campus. In collaboration with the Executive Director (ED) and trustees, the DD will secure $1,000,000+ financial support annually from Anselm House’s community of 400+ donors, congregations, and nine sponsoring foundations, while managing a small team of development personnel.

* Assist the ED and trustees in expanding the base of financial support for Anselm House’s various initiatives.
* Develop and maintain ongoing relationships with key donors in his/her own portfolio as well as assist the ED in managing his portfolio.
* Manage all current and future foundation relationships, and assist the ED and Programs Director in drafting and submitting proposals and reports.
* Manage a development team of three, ensuring that all communications and donor and community outreach are being implemented at the highest level of professionalism. This team includes the following current positions: Communications Manager; Database Manager; Volunteer/alumni/church relations Manager
* Train and mentor trustees, staff, and volunteers in fund development and building a culture of Christian philanthropy.
* Execute with professionalism small and large group fundraising and cultivation events, including a monthly open house based on Benevon’s “point of entry” model.
* Represent Anselm House to diverse stakeholders from various Catholic, Orthodox, and Protestant traditions.
* This position plays a critical role in partnering with the programs team to advance the mission of Anselm House to the University of Minnesota, including students, faculty, staff, and alumni.

* BA/BS required
* 3+ years in development work required, including demonstrated ability to increase revenue and expand a donor base
* Demonstrated excellence in writing required, especially fundraising appeals (submitting a sample with application highly preferred)
* Degree or experience in Christian theology/ministry preferred
* CFRE earned or in progress preferred

Status: Full-time
Compensation: $60,000 – $90,000, commensurate with experience, plus competitive benefits
