This is an hourly position with a competitive benefits package. The hourly range is $18 – $21/hr per year.

I. Organization Overview

The Food Group is a local nonprofit focused on using nutritious food to strengthen community. We work at the intersection of food access, equity, and nutrition issues related to food and hunger in 32 counties in Minnesota and Wisconsin. Our programs include food shelf and meal program support, a healthy and affordable grocery sales program, and a farmer education program for farmers historically underrepresented in farm ownership learning to operate organic farm businesses. We believe nutritious food strengthens our community by creating better health outcomes and providing the foundation needed to thrive.

II. Job Summary:

This position’s role is to increase support and brand exposure for The Food Group by supporting key areas of the Development and Marketing department by 1) marketing and communications 2) special events management 3) partner relationship management and 4) data administration. This position shares responsibility for the successful planning and implementation of a comprehensive marketing and development effort to acquire, grow and sustain support for fighting hunger and nourishing the community.

III. Core Job Functions:

Marketing and Communications – Appx. 30% of time
-Manage digital content and strategy, including develop and implement an annual social media, website, blog, and electronic communications plan.
-Responsible for designing and writing content for social media, website, blog, e-blast and newsletters.
-Develop strategies to share impact with donors through creative storytelling.
-Assist in creating press releases and pitching stories to local media outlets.
-Develop recognition and appreciation strategies for supporters.

Special Events Management – Appx. 30% of time
-Take the lead on coordinating and managing the silent and live auction with the committee for the Hunger Bash Gala.
-Provide key support for our annual gala and work with Marketing Manager to collaborate on event responsibilities.
-Strategize smaller events to invite different donor segments to attend, such as a young professional’s event, donor appreciation events, new donor receptions, educational series or feedback events, etc.
-Represent the organization at third party events.
-Assist with marketing and communication strategies to grow event support.

Partner Relationship Management – Appx. 30% of time
-Manage food and cash drive partnerships through recruitment, scheduling, and appreciation strategies.
-Responsible for securing approximately $100,000 in cash drive contributions and 250,000 lbs. from food drives annually.
-Cultivate corporate relationships through leveraging The Food Group’s volunteer program as a first point of contact.
-Be a part of a cross-functional internal team to strategize volunteer management and appreciation.
-Build a program to offer volunteer sponsorship opportunities through packing events on and off-site.

Data Administration & General Department Support – Appx. 10% of time
-Collaborate with Development Officers to analyze donor data to inform strategy and decision-making.
-Provide back-up for data entry of donations (to cover periods of high donation volume, employee absences, etc…)
-Participate in department efforts to steward and cultivate individual and business supporters, such as donor phone calls and notes.
-Serve as a project manager for department strategies and campaigns.

•Experience working with a constituent database a plus.
•Experience with visual design preferred, adobe creative suite a plus.
•Experience with Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word, Power Point).

Education and Experience
•Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience.
•Experience in non-profit, marketing, communications, community relations, or a related field.

V. Working Conditions and Environment:

This position will office out of our New Hope, MN location. The New Hope location is a dog-friendly, accessible and smoke free office setting. This position works primarily during normal business hours and includes some evening and/or weekend hours on and off site. Start times are flexible to adjust to bus, biking, or other transportation schedules. Must be able to lift a minimum of 40 pounds if needed. Must have ability to sit for long periods of time and utilize various office equipment (e.g., computer, phone, and calculator) on a continual basis.

VI. Hiring Process and Timeline
