Augustana Elim Care Services is seeking an engaging, energetic, and experienced servant-leader to lead its Philanthropy Department. The ideal candidate is both highly relational and highly strategic.

Reporting to the CEO, the Vice President of Philanthropy is responsible for planning, organizing, directing, and budgeting for the fundraising needs of the multi-campus senior housing and healthcare organizations. Furthermore, this position will have the responsibility to effectively combine the fund development departments of the previously separate entities Augustana Care and Elim Care, Inc. The VP of Philanthropy will be responsible for evaluating and eventually combining the different systems, strategies, and teams into one unified department.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Create a 1 year and 5 year strategic plan for the overall work of philanthropy, including strategies for major gifts, events, and grants
  • Develop a portfolio of donors to cultivate for major and planned gifts
  • Facilitate capital campaigns connected to building projects when appropriate
  • Network for visibility and prospect identification in the communities in which AECS has a presence
  • Staff the board development committee and establish advisory board committees as necessary
  • Develop annual operating budget
  • Empower Fund Development Team to creatively connect donors to our mission
  • Ensure initial and continuing competency of staff under their respective responsibilities through training, developing, coaching, and motivating the team
  • Maintain and encourage a positive working environment
