The Special Events Manager (full-time) is responsible for managing and overseeing foundation events and directly managing volunteers recruited to support events. The Special Events Manager will work along-side the Community Development Manager to create and oversee the organization’s annual events and other special events that develop within the regional market to several new locations within the first year.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

•    Schedule and oversee all special events; ensuring that each event is properly planned and executed
•    Develop and oversee a strategy to expand special events to new locations while maintaining vision and mission consistency
•    Manage teams of volunteer committees located in various cities across the region; provide guidance, advice, and support on a consistent and reliable basis
•    Working with Chapter Executive Director develop event plans, goals, and all-inclusive task lists
•    Research, visit, and contact event venues; coordinate details with venue staff
•    Manage legal compliance (insurance, permitting, safety regulations, etc.) for all events
•    Manage event registrations and ticket sales; communicating with event attendees
•    Invite and coordinate with performers, entertainment groups, guest speakers, security personnel, and other vendors
•    Develop promotional materials and digital/website copy
•    Manage event budgets; creating and adjusting financial projections as needed
•    Train and develop staff
•    Manage events on-site; manage event staff/volunteers

REQUIRED SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:

•    Passion for Parkinson Foundation mission
•    Passion for event planning and team management
•    2+ years of event management and/or successful event planning experience
•    Impeccable organizational skills and detail-oriented personality
•    Excellent oral and written communication skills
•    Aptitude in decision-making and problem-solving
•    Self-starter and self-motivated
•    Ability to work a variety of hours including days, nights, and weekends
•    Must be able to lift 25+ lbs

COMPENSATION:

Salary for this position is competitive and depends on prior experience. In addition, a comprehensive benefits package is included.
