Under general supervision of the Director of Development, the Planned Giving Manager will build a planned giving program and work to identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward donors for planned gifts. This is a new position that is accountable for bringing best practice in creating and executing planned giving to PPMNS. The Planned Giving Manager will provide consultative services to other front-line fundraisers on planned giving techniques and mechanisms. This role will also carry an active portfolio of 120 prospects and achieve set production goals each year. Development staff are advocates in implementing Planned Parenthood’s mission of “Affirming the human right to reproductive health and freedom.”

Responsibilities of the Planned Giving Manager:
Essential functions and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
•    Lead planned gift administration and strategy and institute best practices, working closely with Development Operations and others to track and properly execute planned gift fundraising efforts and thoughtfully market and communicate about planned giving
•    Create and execute an annual planned giving work plan; create and maintain appropriate processes and procedures for tracking planned gifts
•    Serve as “go to” colleague regarding any questions pertaining to planned gifts, including which gift planning vehicle is best for a particular situation and assisting with identifying next steps as needed
•    Have responsibility for a personal portfolio of planned gift prospects and donors, identifying those who have the capacity to make transformational gifts in addition to annual and special project gifts
•    Achieve annual fundraising goal individually and assist in overall department effort
•    Provide leadership to the Sanger Society, our planned giving donor recognition society
•    Work with PPFA Planned Giving in a collaborative manner and access their expertise and resources as needed
•    Conduct discovery on prospective planned gift donors and develop strategy for greater engagement appropriate to their financial capacity

Work Hours: 40 hours/week. This position is eligible for a comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, vision, flex accounts, long-term disability, life insurance, PTO, extended illness leave, volunteer time off, paid holidays, and 403(b) retirement plan.

Required Qualifications of the Planned Giving Manger:
•    Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
•    Five to seven years Development experience
•    Willingness and ability to work well with high-level volunteers and collaborate with colleagues across disciplines
•    Excellent problem-solving skills
•    Expert ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, and develop and maintain interpersonal relationships
•    Ability to gather, absorb, and synthesize information from a variety of sources
•    Ability to work with customers from diverse backgrounds and create a positive environment that demonstrates PPMNS’ commitment to diversity
•    Understanding of planned giving, ability to converse with a sophisticated donor about such giving mechanisms.
•    Must have the ability and discretion to work with high-level donors; the ability to make a persuasive verbal and written case for supporting key programs and projects; and effectively match the interests of prospective donors to priorities within PPMNS
•    Ability to travel and to work some nights and weekends is required

Preferred Qualifications of the Planned Giving Manager:
•    CFRE or JD with estate planning experience
•    Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office
•    Experience with Raiser’s Edge or other donor databases
•    Demonstrated success in raising funds from individual donors, preferably at the $25,000+ level
