Minneapolis Heart Institute Foundation (MHIF) is one of the leading cardiovascular research and education institutions in the country. MHIF’s mission is to improve people’s lives through the highest quality cardiovascular research and education.

The Major Gifts Associate is a new position, reporting to the Director of Advancement, created to increase the ability of MHIF to identify, contact, cultivate and steward major and leadership donors.

Key Responsibilities:
•    With Director of Advancement, create and implement plans to develop and grow mutually beneficial philanthropic relationships with existing donors and individuals with the capacity to make major and leadership gifts.
•    Work with other Development team members (including VP of Development and annual giving and prospect research leaders) to meet major gift and overall Development team goals.
•    Manage communications with subsets of major donor interest and campaign groups.
•    Support the execution of major donor gatherings and events.
•    Prepare donor visit packets, briefing materials and execute meeting logistics for DOA and VP.
•    Work with lay leaders, volunteers and other stakeholders to achieve overall Development goals.
•    Coordinate scheduling of meetings with physicians, leaders, donors and development officers.
•    Occasionally attend MHIF events and related organizational events as a representative of Development team.
•    Assist with donor relations activities and other administrative tasks related to development and communications, providing excellent donor and partner service.

•    Bachelor’s degree; minimum of three years of experience in advancement services or development operations.
•    Effective written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills.
•    Ability to prepare high quality proposals and correspondence, strong writing skills.
•    Ability to understand and communicate effectively about complicated administrative projects.
•    High degree of integrity, ethical decision-making and sound judgment; able to honor confidentiality of information.
•    Strong, respectful and attentive customer service focus.
•    Contribute to a culture of a positive, collaborative team and organization.
•    Ability to work under deadlines.
•    Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word and Excel).
•    Prior database systems experience; Salesforce preferred.
