“If we are successful, this model will be taken all over the country.” —Mike Dougherty

With the opportunity gap widening and the student debt crisis worsening, higher education can feel like an elusive pipe dream to low-income students of color. In the face of cynicism and frustration, trailblazing institutions are taking fresh approaches to address these issues, in order to create pathways to higher education for students with drive and passion who lack the resources to make their dreams a reality.

One of the first of its kind in the country, Dougherty Family College at University of St. Thomas is one of these innovative institutions. With a sharp and energetic Dean at the helm, the college is offering real solutions to deep-rooted problems. The two-year college offers an affordable associate degree as part of an intentional pathway to a four-year degree. In combination with its School of Education, the University of St. Thomas is changing how higher education can impact a community. As the Director of Development for these schools, you can be on the leading edge of an innovative approach to impacting the opportunity gap.

The Director of Development directs and coordinates fundraising efforts for the College and manages institution-wide fundraising activities within these units. S/he works to identify and cultivate sources of funding by planning and implementing short, medium and long-term fundraising strategies and programs to meet the current and future needs of the Dougherty Family College and School of Education.
