Position Summary:
The purpose of this position is to work with Foundation leadership to leverage and strengthen funder relationships, develop new funding sources to support programs and operations, as well as prepare funding proposals and support linkages between program development and strategic planning activities. A strong commitment to the vision, mission and values of the Foundation is essential as we work together to serve the communities of Central Minnesota.

Responsibilities:
1.    Grant Writing (25%): Prepares grant inquiries; writes and fully prepares funding applications for submission. Coordinates assembly of complex proposals and materials across teams and work groups. Maintains internal library of grant support documents including resumes, bios, IRS forms, rosters, etc. Submits applications via postal system and online portals; maintains passwords to funder systems. Maintains and further develops application tracking system in NetSuite to monitor deadlines, status of pending proposals, and funds secured.
2.    Program-related Donor Development (20%): Develops and implements strategies to solicit sponsorships and contributions from businesses and individuals.
3.    Program Development and Planning (15%): Facilitates or participates in program development and planning that helps define program activities and outcomes that align with funder concerns/awareness and the Initiative Foundation’s mission and Strategic Plan.
4.    Prospect Research and Planning (15%): Collaborates with external relations and program team to identify and research potential funding sources, maintains current information on funder guidelines, and actively tracks application deadlines.
5.    Grant Funder Reporting (10%): Monitors funder reporting schedule and requirements on grants awarded. Completes grant reports and coordinates with staff to assure timely submission.
6.    Evaluation (10%): Works with others to design and implement outcome-based evaluation plans that capture the impact of the Foundation’s work toward achieving mission. Works across the organization to create appropriate evaluation tools and gather necessary impact data. Works with outside vendors/contractors, when appropriate, to produce year-end evaluation.
7.    Other Duties (5%): Participates in teams and work groups. Completes other duties as assigned by the supervisor, President or members of Leadership Team.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Position requires excellent grant proposal writing skills, understanding of program development processes, and expertise in program planning and evaluation. Ability to work independently as well as in work groups and teams is key. Strong organizational skills, capacity to facilitate group discussions, and ability to handle multiple deadlines is essential. Knowledge in grants, foundations, prospect research and nonprofit budgeting helpful.

Minimum Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in English, communications or related field and three years of experience in grants, nonprofits, fundraising, or equivalent combination. Superior written and verbal communication is a must. Position requires a valid driver’s license and insurance coverage or access to reliable transportation.
