Second Harvest Heartland is the leading hunger relief organization in the upper Midwest distributing 90+ million pounds of food per year to almost 1000 agencies across 59 counties. Our mission is to end hunger through our community partnerships.

The Grants Coordinator is responsible for the research, preparation and submission of funding proposals and grant applications to primarily corporate and foundation donors; under the supervision of the Grants and Research Manager. He/she will write compelling proposals for both unrestricted operating revenue and restricted projects, and submit timely and accurate reports for existing grant-funded projects. This person will assist in conducting prospect research on individual, corporate and foundation major gifts prospects, qualify them, and write profiles as needed. He/she must have the ability to write persuasive, clear, concise proposals and meet deadlines for a robust grants schedule. The Grants Coordinator will also write donor-oriented communications as needed; including thank you letters, Case Statements, customized program updates and recognition items.
