The Essential Sponsorship Clinic

February 28 | 9:00 am - 3:00 pm

Part 1, 9 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.
Attend this fast-paced workshop and understand how to streamline your fundraising efforts for dramatic results. This educational program takes a closer look at sponsorship in its broadest terms – from individuals, foundations and companies – and the steps nonprofits of all sizes can take now to assure future success. This session is led by Barbara Harrington, one of the nation’s leading experts on nonprofit sponsorship. There will be plenty of opportunity for questions and answers.

Workshop Highlights:
•    Review Trends for Philanthropic and Marketing Sponsors
•    Clarify Essential Benefits and Communicating Values
•    Learn from Case Studies from Various Sized Organizations
•    Research Prospects With Limited Time and Budget
•    Chart a Real World Calendar Grounded in Ethical Stewardship
•    Engage Help When No One Else Wants to Ask
•    Streamline a System for Donors, Foundations and Corporate Sponsors

Part 2, 1 – 3 p.m.
After enjoying a box lunch with your peers, we’ll get back to work. Roll up your sleeves and work on specific fundraising tasks during the afternoon working clinic. The clinic will provide an ideal environment for starting your sponsorship projects. Barbara will be available to offer tips and advice in small groups and one-on-one. Bring your laptop, your past and future sponsorship projects, and your best ideas for implementing strategies discussed during the morning. By working solo or in collaboration with peers, you’ll capitalize on the day’s learnings.

This program is suited for all skill levels. Thoughtfully selected case studies guarantee smaller nonprofits are not left out of the conversation and savvy practitioners leave with new ideas too! Development and leadership staff along with volunteers and board members will leave energized by great content.

Register Early for a Chance to Win a Sponsor Makeover! Register two or more attendees from the same organization by February 1 – and you’ll be automatically entered into a drawing. Three organizations will be randomly selected to win a sponsor makeover. This will include two personal phone calls with Barbara, one call before the workshop and one call afterwards. During these calls, Barbara will work with your team to craft an individualized strategy for a sponsor makeover.

Principles & Practices

In an effort to support nonprofits in fulfilling their missions, this workshop will help to focus your work on the following practices:

  • FINANCE 16: Nonprofit organizations should secure appropriate levels of funding to carry out their missions and activities and, when possible, diversify their revenue sources to avoid being dependent on a single funding type.
  • FUND 8: Nonprofits must use funds consistent with donor intent and comply with specific conditions placed upon donations.
  • FUND 15: A nonprofit should plan its communications to tell the story of the organization and maintain consistent, mission-focused and timely communication with donors.
  • LEAD 9: Leaders should actively communicate how the organization’s activities produce the intended change in the community and inspire others to affect that change through fundraising, advocacy and programming.
