About the IDEA Breakfast Series

Are you a person of color interested in transitioning to the nonprofit sector, pursuing a career in fundraising or simply networking with other nonprofit professionals of color? At AFP Minnesota’s quarterly IDEA (Inclusion, Diversity, Equity and Access) Breakfast series, nonprofit executives of color will share stories of leadership, fundraising, and how they navigate the sector as a person of color.

About the Event

In this session, Sondra will speak to the importance of representation within the nonprofit sector. Specifically, how and why she made the move from the corporate world, how she functions within the nonprofit landscape as a woman of color, and how to build a network that is supportive of professionals of color.

People of color and their allies are invited to attend. Light breakfast will be served. Please share this event with your network, especially your POC connections.

President and CEO, Northside Achievement Zone

Sondra Samuels is the President and CEO of the Northside Achievement Zone (NAZ), a collaborative of over 40 partner non-profits and schools. Along with parents, students, partners, and staff, Sondra is leading a revolutionary culture shift in North Minneapolis that is focused on ending multigenerational poverty through education and family stability.

The NAZ collaborative is working toward a single goal — to prepare low-income North Minneapolis children to graduate from high school ready for college. NAZ has scaled up to support over 1,000 parents and 2,300 students as they turn the social service model on its head and lead the creation of a college-bound culture throughout the community.
