Saint John’s Preparatory School is a Catholic/Benedictine, co-educational, day and boarding International Baccalaureate college preparatory school for students in grades 6-12, with boarding options beginning in the 9th grade, located on SJU Campus.

Summary of key duties and responsibilities:
The Director of Development, in collaboration with the VP of Advancement, has responsibility for Saint John’s Preparatory School’s annual fundraising activities. The Director of Development will assist with establishing annual financial goals, develop long-term philanthropic relationships with major gift prospects, solicit individual gifts and coordinate strategic steps to help the organization achieve its long-term financial goals. Candidates not living in the local area may be permitted to telecommute or work remotely with occasional visits to campus.

Specific duties and responsibilities:
1.    Establish strategy, develop campaign collateral, and successfully execute the Annual Fund campaign
2.    Direct the efforts to produce donor marketing materials including newsletters, e-mails, quarterly reports, and year end reports
3.    Work cooperatively with VP of Advancement and Director of Communications and Special Events to ensure that annual fundraising activities and events meet budgeted goals and objectives
4.    Collaborate with VP of Advancement in identifying, cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding major gift prospects and donors
5.    Work with VP of Advancement to identify and cultivate prospective Board of Regent members
6.    Collaborate with VP of Advancement on capital campaign efforts
7.    Maintain an active portfolio of prospective and current donors for cultivation and solicitation
8.    Prepare monthly status reports on budget projections, proposals pending, pledges secured, gifts secured, prospect cultivation
9.    Assist VP of Advancement in review of and establishment of annual and long-range financial goals, including number of donors by category, dollars raised, alumni participation, etc.
10.    Actively engage in the planning and execution of alumni/ae events

•    Must embrace the mission of Saint John’s Preparatory School
•    Strong interpersonal and writing skills
•    Be a self-starter and goal driven to initiate donor visits and fundraising calls
•    Be organized and exhibit follow through on tasks and goals
•    Display a positive attitude, show concern for people and community, demonstrate presence, self-confidence, common sense and good listening ability
•    3-5 years of experience in professional fundraising preferred
•    Knowledge of Raiser’s Edge or similar constituent database preferred
