Purpose of position
The MISF Director of Development and Programs provides leadership and management of MISF’s advancement efforts. The Director will be accountable for increasing the visibility of MISF and its mission to provide access to quality education to all students throughout Minnesota.

Position scope
The Director will have responsibility for securing the necessary resources through stewardship of donors, grant writing, overseeing the STEM Program and securing sponsorships.

•    Set and meet annual fundraising goals.
•    Develop and manage a comprehensive fundraising program including individual, corporate, foundation and sponsor revenue while meeting appropriate deadlines.
•    In partnership with the STEM Program manager, develop and oversee all aspects of the STEM Program including STEM Education Conference, STEM Grant Program, and securing additional STEM resources for member schools.
•    Actively identify prospective donors through connections with the MISF Board of Directors, corporate and business communities, individuals, and associated relationships.
•    Assist in planning professional development seminars and conferences.
•    Plan and coordinate the design, content, printing, and distribution of MISF’s Annual Report.
•    Assist in the annual organizational budget process.
•    Responsible for donor relationship management including data entry, gift processing, and appropriate acknowledgement
•    Facilitate and coordinate grant process.
•    Consistently cultivate working relationships with school leaders, development directors, and other member school staff; assist with member engagement and recruitment visits as needed.
•    Other projects, activities, and assignments as requested.

Experience and qualifications:
•    Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required.
•    At least five years of proven success in fundraising or non-profit experience, preferably in education, including experience with corporate and foundation solicitation.
•    Demonstrated understanding of Minnesota’s corporate, foundation and philanthropic communities.
•    Have a passion for the important role of private and independent education.
•    Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite of products including word, excel and power point. Working knowledge of donor databases, preferably Blackbaud Raiser’s Edge.
•    Commitment to confidentiality and a high degree of accuracy.
•    Familiarity and/or experience performing prospect research.
•    Effective communication and interpersonal skills, both verbal and written.
•    Must be detail-oriented with strong organizational, analytical, and planning skills.
•    Willingness and ability to travel locally and throughout Minnesota.
•    Ability to work independently with limited supervision and as a team member in a small office.

Reporting Relationship
This position reports to the President with further accountability to the MISF Board of Directors and member schools.
