We are looking for passionate, dedicated staff who are eager to make positive contributions to their community and to the Planned Parenthood mission. In accordance with the organization’s strategic priorities, the Director of Development strengthens and expands support for PPMNS from individuals and families, foundations and corporations. All Development Officers and the Grants Manager report to this position, which reports directly to the Vice President of Development and works closely with key executive staff of the organization, including the CEO.

Responsibilities
– Serve as a spokesperson for Planned Parenthood Minnesota, North Dakota, South Dakota.
– Help create the top-level, strategic, development vision and the details needed to execute the vision within the department and organization-wide. Anticipate external trends and organizational funding needs to adapt strategically.
– Develop strategy and implement plan for increasing annual support primarily of gifts $5,000 and greater and major project gifts of $25,000 and greater. Partner with VP and gift officers to develop and track prospect strategies. Institute best practices for prospect identification, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship of all leadership and above donors.
– Maintain donor portfolio of 75 donors; conduct front-line visits with donors and prospective donors.
– Supervise gift officers critical to the cultivation and stewardship of major donors. Establish metrics and accountabilities for all gift officers, which includes number of calls and face-to-face visits.
– Manage and track relationships and activity with donors in Raiser’s Edge. Produce regular status reports on prospect management activity and fundraising results. Work with VP, Finance and planned gift officer to put in place systems for effectively tracking use and performance of restricted gifts and system for reporting back to donors their impact.
– Assist VP with board development committee to ensure follow-through and meaningful engagement for volunteers.
– Oversee the creation and implementation of strong work plans for foundation grants and planned giving, and deliver on stated goals.
– Participate as an active member of committees designed to improve collaboration and communication across the organization.

Work Hours: Full-Time, Exempt. This position is eligible for a comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, vision, flex plans, long-term disability, life insurance, PTO, and 403(b) retirement plan.

Required Qualifications
– Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience.
– Minimum of eight years’ development with an emphasis on building relationships.
– Passion and demonstrated success in raising major gifts from individual donors.
– Strong support for the mission and goals of Planned Parenthood is essential.

Preferred Qualifications
– Advanced degree preferred.
– Thorough understanding of the importance of annual giving, experience with capital or comprehensive campaigns is preferred.
– Ability to converse with a sophisticated donor about gift planning mechanisms, create an annual work plan, and execute accordingly.
