This position provides strategic vision, oversight, and daily management for the annual giving program and the effective use and development of volunteers. Careful coordination with major giving, planned giving, special events, and donor stewardship efforts will be required. The main objectives of the annual giving program will be to provide a reliable stream of unrestricted gift income, foster the creation and identification of major donor and planned giving prospects, recruit and carefully integrate volunteers into achieving our mission, all while enhancing Avivo’s brand and reputation with the widest possible audience.

•    Plan, develop, and provide day-to-day management for Avivo’s Annual Giving program so that it is clear in its expectations, consistent (over a multi-year time period), and has demonstrable outcomes. Lead the development of strategies that result in the achievement of dollar and active donor goals.
•    The plan will cover a variety of solicitation methods, including direct mail, e-communications, social media, and other creative uses of technology to increase annual contributions, number of donors, and the number of engaged volunteers.
•    Plan, develop, and monitor annual giving and volunteer budget to support the strategy, ensure that maximum cost – benefit ratio is achieved.
•    The Director will remain up-to-date on current fund raising, direct marketing, and volunteer management programs and procedures being used in the non-profit sector as well as current tax law relevant to annual charitable giving.
•    Develop and implement goals and objectives for the volunteer program which reflect the mission of the organization.
•    Work in collaboration with the mission delivery divisions of Avivo to assess the need for volunteers and develop a comprehensive volunteer program that enhances program/service delivery.
•    Promote the volunteer program to gain community, corporate, and individual support.
•    Develop and implement effective strategies to recruit the right volunteers with the right skills.
•    Develop and implement an intake and interview protocol for potential volunteers to ensure the best match between their skills, qualifications, and interests with the organization’s needs.
•    Plan and implement formal and informal volunteer and donor recognition activities to celebrate their contributions to Avivo.
•    Supervises one direct report, the Development Associate/ Data Administrator.

•    Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communication or non-profit management or equivalent experience.
•    Three years of demonstrated success in volunteer management within a non-profit organization.
•    Proven skills with Microsoft Windows, including Word and Excel, and experience in database management (Raiser’s Edge).

SALARY: Competitive, dependent on experience and qualifications
