Director of Alumni and Development Relationships

Position Responsibilities:

Alumni Community Leadership: Lead the development and delivery of a creative alumni relationship program for recent graduates of this young campus. – 45%

Lead the strategic vision and planning for building a best practices oriented alumni relations program designed to serve as a pipeline for future philanthropic support
Engage in UMR campus community, including students, faculty, and staff, to learn and sustain understanding of our distinctive culture and vision.
With six classes of traditionally aged graduates, lead the strategic vision and planning for building a best practices, youth-oriented alumni relations program designed to sustain strong relationships and serve as a pipeline for future philanthropic support.
Work with the Marketing and Communications team to integrate strategic alumni communication with development-related communication.
Work with the Director of Community Engagement and Career Development to connect alumni with current students in key endeavors (e.g. career mentoring).
Work with the Senior Advisor of Strategic Collaborations to connect alumni with local leaders and mission-aligned partners.
Develop a culture of innovation and engagement in alumni programming, leading the implementation of a creative and meaningful engagement for alumni that is consistent with the UMR Vision and relationship-focus of the student experience.
Encourage partnerships, stimulate interest and engagement, and promote communication among and between UMR alumni.

Development: Create and implement a creative and comprehensive campus development plan for the innovative, young campus of the University of Minnesota Rochester, working closely with the Chancellor and the University of Minnesota Foundation. – 45%

Develop comprehensive fundraising program that includes annual, major, and planned giving.
Create meaningful stewardship opportunities and impact messaging.
Develop and manage a portfolio of individual, corporate, and foundation donors and prospective donors.
Create a case statement for UMR, aligned with our Strategic Growth Plan.
Serve as UMR’s liaison to the University of Minnesota Foundation.

Leadership: Function as a visible and contributing member of the UMR senior leadership team, providing strategy and staying informed and engaged in campus endeavors. – 10%

Coordinate development-related goals among colleagues in marketing, government and community relations, and events.
Inform and shape the communications plan for community, alumni, and donor care.
Manage development and alumni budget.
Supervise event coordinator.
Manage scholarship process relative to funds available to award to students. Personalize donor recognition efforts for sustained and/or large gifts.
Provide structure and guidance necessary to promote a high-performance culture that meets the needs and expectations of a successful, entrepreneurial and fast-moving alumni and development community
Sustain collaborative culture of UMR while serving as the sole development and alumni staff member.
