Primary Purpose:
The Annual Giving Assistant provides administrative support to the annual giving and events teams.

Essential Responsibilities:
• Assist with the logistics, planning, and execution of small and large events for the annual giving and events teams, including AHS’ three major events: Wine Dinner, Whisker Whirl, and the Walk for Animals.
• Champion a high-quality donor experience in all donor communications, engagement opportunities, and events.
• Work with the Annual Giving Producer to manage Sustainer Stop-Loss efforts, including reporting, print and email communications to donors, and updates to donor records.
• Track and process invoices and maintain budget tracking documents.
• Assist with the preparation of expense and revenue reports for Philanthropy team.
• Assist with project management with outside vendors for products and services required for annual giving and events; coordinate with colleagues within and outside the Philanthropy department as needed.
• Oversee and supervise the use of volunteers to support annual giving and events activities.
• Oversee the creation and distribution of memorial/tribute cards and contact preference letters.
• Pull reports and lists for data analysis and mail/email communications.
• Assist with meeting and event setup and calendar management for the Annual Giving and Events teams.
• Oversee the assembly and mailing of third party fundraising kits.
• Manage tracking and ordering of printed inventory and “swag.”
• Foster a creative and productive work environment.
• Act as an ambassador of the Animal Humane Society both internally and externally. Provide needed information to supporters, donors, clients, and the community on all aspects of AHS.
• Other duties as assigned by the annual giving and events teams.

Work Environment:
• Primarily office/desk-based
• Adjacent animal shelter areas may be humid, noisy, or odorous

• Associates Degree preferred.
• Minimum 2-3 years of office experience. Preference given to candidates with experience working in nonprofits, fundraising and/or events.
• Strong computer skills required. Preference given to candidates with demonstrated skills and experience using Microsoft Office suite, particularly Excel, Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint.
• Knowledge of and experience with Blackbaud products including: Raiser’s Edge, Luminate/Convio, and TeamRaiser preferred.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Demonstrated success in working independently and as part of a team.
• Self-motivated, results-oriented, data-driven, and goal-focused.
• Able to adapt and succeed in a fast-paced work environment, handle fluctuating priorities and multiple projects, and meet deadlines under pressure. Strong organizational skills essential.
• Must be able to handle the physical and emotional aspect of work in an animal shelter environment, including the use of euthanasia.
• Committed to and enthusiastic about the mission, programs and services of the Animal Humane Society.
