Frank Molek

Frank Molek, born in Hillsboro, Oregon, graduated from Linfield College (Oregon) in 1968 with a Bachelor of Arts in Mathematics and Physics. After two years as a Fulbright Scholar in Germany, earning a Master’s Degree at the University of Muenster, he returned to the United States for a Master of Science in Foreign Service at Georgetown University.

He began his professional career on Capitol Hill in Washington, D.C., on the staff of Oregon Congresswoman, Edith Green. Shortly after, he embarked on what has been a 45 year career in external relations (Admissions, Development, Marketing, Alumni and Membership Services, and Events Management) in Higher Education, serving Georgetown University, Linfield College, The University of Chicago Law School as Associate Dean, Saint Mary’s University (Texas) as Vice President for University Relations, and Saint Louis University as Vice President for Institutional Advancement.

For the past 22 years, Frank has served as Director of Development and Membership at The University of Minnesota Landscape Arboretum and Foundation. During his tenure, the Arboretum has increased its presence and position throughout Minnesota, and has benefitted from two victorious Comprehensive Campaigns:  $65.7 Million (1998 – 2003) and $61.2 Million (2012 – 2016). Overall philanthropic and membership revenue support during his 22 year incumbency has exceeded $200 Million.

Memberships, committee leadership and seminar/conference presentations with the Council for the Advancement and Support of Education (CASE); the National Association of Fund Raising Executives (NSFRE); and the American Public Gardens Association (APGA) have been have been major features in his professional career.

Frank has been married to Juliana Haverty Molek for 45 years. Their children, Tony and Kristina are both Minnesota residents as are their grandsons, Dominc, Tyson and Martin.
