Mary Lynn and Warren Staley
Warren and Mary Lynn Staley are servant leaders in every sense of the word. Their remarkable generosity is driven by a deep passion and care for people and community.
Warren is known for his accomplishments as CEO of Cargill and Mary Lynn for her civic leadership, but that is only the beginning of the story of their reach. The Staleys have made philanthropy and volunteering the cornerstone of their retirement, serving in leadership roles for a number of campaigns. As co-chairs of Habitat for Humanity’s A World of Hope campaign, their personal lead gift was the largest ever received by the organization from an individual donor at that time. Their giving to this and additional campaigns has inspired incredible generosity in others.
Mary Lynn and Warren have supported Opportunity International since 2002. They are tireless volunteers for agriculture and education campaigns where they bring their significant understanding of business and financial services to help women grow small businesses, teachers build local schools and smallholder farmers increase their crop yields. Their gifts have provided over 150,000 life-changing loans and training to 41,674 Opportunity clients and have directly impacted 178,675 people in 24 countries.
Additionally Warren and Mary Lynn’s philanthropy has had great impact on Greater Twin Cities United Way, Kansas State University’s Leadership Studies Building, Our Lady of Grace Church, and Cristo Rey Jesuit High School.
Warren and Mary Lynn Staley provide authentic leadership that inspires and challenges everyone to serve at their highest level. They have a compassionate spirit that draws them to help meet some of the most pressing needs of our world. For the Staley family, philanthropy starts at home. Warren and Mary Lynn have hosted many international visitors and have encouraged their children and grandchildren to seek out opportunities to learn and serve the community.
