Diane Lilly

Outstanding Volunteer Fundraiser

Diane Lilly

Diane Lilly is a pillar of the local philanthropic community, with her longstanding commitment to arts, financial, and advocacy organizations across Minnesota.

Diane is a member and past chair of the Board of Trustees for the Minneapolis Institute of Art, a member and past chair of the Board of Trustees for Twin Cities Public Television, and has served as a board member of the National Association of Public Television Stations, Minnesota Council on Foundations, Minnesota Citizens for the Arts, Girl Scouts of Minnesota and Wisconsin River Valleys, Guthrie Theater Foundation, Minnesota Private College Council and YWCA Board of Trustees.

She has a rare talent for fundraising due to her multifaceted perspective—as a foundation director, board member, retired Executive Vice President of Government Relations, and philanthropist. Diane spent 11 years as president of Norwest Foundation and managed its $25 million giving program. Her service set the stage for continued giving during a transition to the Wells Fargo Foundation, which continues to lead nationally in corporate social responsibility initiatives. Diane and her husband David founded the Peravid Foundation, which funds arts, cultural, advocacy, and human services organizations.

As a volunteer fundraiser, Diane is an unstoppable advocate. She has led fundraising efforts for Mia that raised $20.5 million and as a member of the campaign steering committee for TPT, successfully exceeded their campaign goal of $30 million by raising $40 million. As she has stated, “I try to connect the nonprofits I’m involved with to the community and try to link those organizations where I can see partnerships that might be worth developing.”

Whether she’s signing hundreds of letters, soliciting prospects through personal invitations, or hosting staff and donors in her home, Diane’s commitment to Minnesota’s nonprofit and cultural institutions in undeniable.
