Every year Animal Humane Society cares for more than 23,000 animals in need and helps thousands more through programs for people and pets.


Primary Function:

This position is responsible for fundraising list generation, database maintenance, data accuracy and integrity, and facilitating the flow of information from other databases into and out of the database of record, Raiser’s Edge. This position will be the primary owner of the Luminate Online database and will work closely with Brand to manage both data flow to and from Luminate as well as the general data integrity.

Essential Responsibilities:

Generation of mailing lists, fundraising reports and other data extractions requested by staff
Develop, maintain, and run manual and automated imports, exports and data exchanges including using ImportOmatic, Luminate Online, SQL Server and other systems as appropriate
Database maintenance of Raiser’s Edge, Luminate Online and other fundraising-related databases, including duplicate record merging, clean-up tasks, data hygiene projects and quality control audits
Assist with staff training in the use of Raiser’s Edge (and other related data management products)
Promote continued development of database system capabilities
Continually identify and explore opportunities for process improvements to achieve greater efficiency and efficacy in systems, processes and procedures
Communicate issues and patterns to Advancement Operations leaders
Assist with special events as assigned, including donor inquires, event entry

Additional Responsibilities:
Actively participate as a member of the Advancement Operations team, contributing to planning and process evaluation Contribute to the shared goals, objectives and Key Performance Indicators of the Advancement Operations and Annual Giving teams, especially a commitment to meeting fundraising goals
Be an ambassador for Animal Humane Society with both internal and external customers

Qualifications Required:
High School diploma, or G.E.D. equivalent is required. Associate or Bachelor degree or equivalent experience preferred
3-5 years of related experience in data management is required
Advanced understanding of database systems
Experience with donor databases such as: Raiser’s Edge, Luminate Online, Salesforce, SalsaLabs, eTapestry, ImportOmatic and/or equivalent
High level of proficiency in word-processing, mail merges, spreadsheets, and e-mail
Positive, flexible and open-minded attitude and willingness to work as part of a team
Detail-orientated, professional manner, self-starter and creative problem solver
Demonstrated customer service skills with excellent interpersonal, communications, organization and time-management skills
Ability to respond professionally to passionate supporters’ questions and concerns
Ability to work independently in a fast-paced and growing department, handle fluctuating priorities and multiple projects, and meet deadlines under pressure
Must be flexible and able to adapt to short and long-term shifts in job duties
Must be able to handle the physical and emotional aspect of work in an animal shelter environment, including the use of euthanasia

Qualifications Preferred:
Prior experience working in a development office or for a nonprofit.
Experience with SQL, VBA and/or other database programming languages.
Experience writing Crystal Reports.

Work Environment:
Primarily office/desk-based
Adjacent animal shelter areas may be humid, noisy, or odorous
Stooping/Bending: % of shift: 2%

Employees may have to bend or stoop to access files, etc.
Reaching: % of shift: 2%

Employees will be expected to reach into cabinets or shelving above their heads, reach for various supplies needed throughout shift, etc.
Sight/Hearing: % of shift: 90%

Employees must be able to see computer monitors, communication boards, use email communication, read invoices, talk to customers, other employees, and volunteers, hear overhead pages, etc. Employees may be exposed to noisy conditions in animal areas.
Lifting/Carrying: % of shift: 1%

Employees must be able to lift and carry up to 20 lbs.
General Intelligence:% of shift: 90%

Must be able to learn and comprehend basic and intermediate instructions, protocols, and policies, internal communications, etc.
Motor Coordination Skills:% of shift: 85%

Must be able to coordinate eyes, hands, fingers and make precise movements.
Coordination of Eyes, Hands, and Feet: % of shift: 85%

Must be able to coordinate eyes, hands, and feet in response to visual stimuli.
Verbal Intelligence: % of shift: 90%

Must be able to understand the meanings of words and respond effectively
